So pull out your old sleeping bag and head to Ticketmaster tonight or connect every computer at uni or in your house at 1pm tomorrow

Doors open at 7PM with Hot Chip taking to the stage at 7:45PM sharp

American's do not know how to do good coffee. There, I said it. I have been back in NYC for nearly 3 weeks now & am on a hunt to find good coffee, its been a journey, but today, I had a breakthrough. An unfortunate cafe name, [STUMPTOWN] anyone? But F@#king good coffee. STUMPTOWN is part of midtowns coolest accomodation, Ace Hotel.

Ace Hotel reinvents the urban hotel for the people who make cities interesting. They state that they 'crave experience more than hospitality clichés'. Ace is built around collaborations and friendships with local designers, artists, and independent businesses.

Formerly the Breslin Hotel, the historic property that houses Ace Hotel New York has always been full of life. Alfred Stieglitz and Edward Steichen were neighbors; "Diamond Jim" Brady (the inspiration for Marlon Brando's Guys & Dolls character) was a regular; visionary filmmaker, musicologist and painter Harry Smith lived there, too. Some pics below of the individually styled rooms. After you grab your coffee, you can hang out in a cool room that joins the cafe, power up your mac, sit on beyond cool vintage leather couches & read the old band posters & news paper that wall paper the walls. It looks like a place where Sting & Trudie would get it on on the lounges & no one would bat an eyelid. Even if only for the coffee, It is the place to mix with a cool, yet unpretentious crowd. If you are in NYC & have to stay midtown (If your not a NYC regular visitor downtown is a much cooler area), but if you are midtown bound - The Ace Hotel is the only place to crash. A super cool vibe & to date, the best coffee I have had in NYC.

FIXIE CULTURE

Over here in London, it is all about the 'Fixie'. When you first hear the word fixie, bike might not come to mind but for many die-hard cyclist fans there is no other word for bike. These bikes are known as fixed gear bikes or simply fixies. Judging by the popularity of these bikes, and the culture surrounding them, Webster's has a new word for their next edition. The history of fixies in the U.S is said to have started with bike delivery boys of the east coast, as the bikes themselves differ greatly from your regular road bike. They proved to be more cost effective and reliable as parts were expensive. The idea of a fixed gear bike is simple: firstly, they have no mechanisms that allow you to freewheel, sounds simple enough but rest assured your first attempt at riding one will not be easy. Not just for cyclist, cool cats throughout London & NYC are forking out big bucks for fixies, so much so, when you bike chain them to a pole to grab your morning coffee, rarely do you leave the seat or wheels that may be able to become detachable.

My girlfriend couldn't download the new Christina Aguilera album on itunes quick enough. Conscious to stay well away from anything to do with her (Aguilera & her popshit rubbish, not my girlfriend) I could not help but look at Christina in a slightly different way when I walked past my girl's laptop & the itTune 'vizulizer' (didn't even know these existed till I saw The Winking Pussy) had the below image of Ms Aguilera, lying naked with..er...herself, wearing no pants... & yes, A Winking Pussy. I if could have posted this image in motion, the image of the cat on her doorway to heaven, pulsates with the beat of the music...and winks at you. I don't know how to feel.
